Buying and Selling Your Home During Lockdown
Whilst the government advice is to delay all but critical home moves during the lockdown period, there is still a lot which can be done to prepare a sale or purchase for completion as soon as the restrictions are lifted.
If the property is empty or you are buying or selling land, the process can continue largely unaffected, subject to maintaining the government advice on social distancing during the process and any move.
We are able to accept new conveyancing matters, and whilst we might not be able to meet you in person, we are still available to discuss matters over the phone, by email and we can arrange video meetings, where required.
We are still able to obtain land registry documents, prepare all the legal documentation and obtain searches. Most conveyancing firms still have staff working, which should enable us to work together to agree all matters prior to exchange of contracts and completion, though some parts of the process may take a little longer.
If you need a mortgage, your mortgage lender may be able to obtain a valuation without the need for an internal inspection, provided you are satisfied with the condition of the property, and do not require a more detailed survey involving entry into an occupied property.
So if you have agreed a sale or purchase, we are sure we can assist and would be delighted to hear from you. If you have any questions or need further information, please give us a call
