Wedded Bliss – Or Is It?
A recent Study has revealed that for every year a couple stays together, the less likely they are to divorce.
This may be a surprising statistic in circumstances where the Press and Social Media are constantly highlighting celebrity couples who are in the process of or who have separated.
The Study also revealed that there is evidence to support the view that the first 10 years of any marriage are the hardest. So whilst during the earlier years a couple have a 1 in 4 chance of splitting up, for those who reach their Golden Wedding Anniversary, that is 50 years, it is just 1 in 1,500. This seems to go against recent reports which have suggested that separation and divorce is more common among older couples.
Statistics have revealed that after 20 years, the possibilities of divorce drops to 1 in 8 whilst being together for 30 years, it means that a couple is at risk of divorce in just 1 of 25 cases.
Whatever the statistics might say, every situation is different. Unfortunately not every couple will live “happily ever after”.
