165,000 Affordable Homes Over the Next Three Years?

Housing Minister (and Ilkley and Keighley MP) Kris Hopkins says house building is at its highest level since 2007 and construction orders are increasing at the fastest rate for ten years.

 Housing Association’s, councils and house builders were this week invited to bid for government funding which together with private investment is expected to deliver £23 billion worth of investment in the new homes industry between 2015 and 2018.

There are, however, concerns that infrastructure (road, rail and schools along with flood protection measures) to support such construction is lacking and needs to be addressed by the government.
