New Year's Resolutions, have you made yours?
The festive season has begun and 2014 is only four weeks away. The New Year is often a time when we make resolutions and think about our futures.
At RDC Solicitors we believe that making a Will is an important part of planning for your future. Statistics tell us that less than sixty percent of the population in the United Kingdom have made a Will. As a result they are said to die intestate and have no say in how their assets are distributed. Their estate will be distributed in accordance with a set of legal rules which may be contrary to what they would have wanted and could mean that their assets would pass to the state.
Contrary to popular belief just because someone is married or in a civil partnership does not mean that their assets would automatically pass to their surviving spouse or civil partner. To ensure that your assets are distributed in accordance with your wishes in the event of your death it is important that you make a Will.
